ABOUT
ECCM
Eritrean
Community Center of Minnesota (ECCM) is a nonprofit organization
based in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis & St. Paul) area
committed to the social and economic development of Eritreans
at home and in the Diaspora. ECCM's mission is to promote
the unity and advancement of all Eritreans. We strive to increase
the understanding and appreciation of Eritrean culture and
heritage. We believe with the understanding of our country,
we can better impact the future of Eritreans at home and abroad.
ECCM was established in 1986 by individuals concerned with
the betterment of Eritreans. We assembled to educate each
other of the conditions in Eritrea, and researched strategies
on how to get involved in the larger community. In the process,
we have fostered a union that has become a forum to exchange
ideas, implement projects, and share accomplishments.
Currently ECCM's focus is on enriching our unity and experience
through member-initiated projects and activities. Tigrigna
School for children and adults, Mentoring and Tutoring Classes
for Eritrean Youths and Eritrean Cultural Nights are among
the many projects ECCM is undertaking. ECCM is also planning
to launch a Day Care Center for Eritrean Children by Eritrean
mothers and Computer Classes for adults in the near future.
Through teamwork and dedication of members, we hope to achieve
our vision and goal and meet the needs of our community. We
hope to deliver on these commitments through various projects
such as developing a networking system and educating each
other of the past and present progression of the Eritrean
culture and promote continuous contribution to our society.
