Isaias Afwerki messege to US President George Bush

Eritrea
Office of the President
11 September 2001

Today, 11 September 2001, President Isaias Afwerki of the State of Eritrea sent the following message to President George W. Bush of the United States of America.

"We are shocked by the news of the hideous terrorist attacks against the
United States of America.

At this hour of national grief and tragedy, I wish to express to the American people and to you, Mr. President, our profound sorrow on behalf of the people and government of Eritrea, and on my own behalf.

In extending our condolences to the families of the thousands who may have perished in this terrorist attack, we are confident that the perpetrators of this appalling crime will be hunted down and punished."

President Isaias Afwerki
